El presente curso presenta las conexiones entre el cambio climático y la salud. El material de contenido proporciona un marco para entender los mecanismos básicos del cambio climático y el alcance de sus impactos en la salud humana y animal, identificando la conexión entre los desafíos planetarios y las amenazas locales. La actividad “juego de roles” fomentará la práctica del pensamiento sistémico, la adopción de perspectivas holísticas y el trabajo con creatividad y colaboración para encontrar soluciones inmediatas y a largo plazo.
Nos complace invitarle al Simposio One Health 2024 del Proyecto GENERA, un evento diseñado para discutir los desafíos críticos de la salud global mediante el enfoque de "Una Salud" (One Health), que propone soluciones holísticas e interdisciplinarias para abordar problemas complejos que afectan la salud humana, animal y ambiental.
Este simposio se lleva a cabo en el marco del Proyecto GENERA: German-Ecuadorian Network for Global Health Research and Innovation, una iniciativa destinada a fortalecer la preparación y respuesta ante pandemias mediante la colaboración entre universidades de Ecuador y Alemania. Participan en este esfuerzo la Universidad de las Américas, la Universidad San Francisco de Quito, la Universidad de Cuenca, y el Centro para la Salud Internacional del Hospital Universitario de la Ludwig Maximilians (CIHLMU). Nuestro objetivo es construir conexiones sólidas y establecer redes de educación e investigación en el ámbito de la salud global, aprovechando el enfoque de Una Salud para desarrollar respuestas efectivas a las amenazas sanitarias actuales.

Nos complace invitarle al Simposio One Health 2024 del Proyecto GENERA, un evento diseñado para discutir los desafíos críticos de la salud global mediante el enfoque de "Una Salud" (One Health), que propone soluciones holísticas e interdisciplinarias para abordar problemas complejos que afectan la salud humana, animal y ambiental.
Este simposio se lleva a cabo en el marco del Proyecto GENERA: German-Ecuadorian Network for Global Health Research and Innovation, una iniciativa destinada a fortalecer la preparación y respuesta ante pandemias mediante la colaboración entre universidades de Ecuador y Alemania. Participan en este esfuerzo la Universidad de las Américas, la Universidad San Francisco de Quito, la Universidad de Cuenca, y el Centro para la Salud Internacional del Hospital Universitario de la Ludwig Maximilians (CIHLMU). El curso sobre Resistencia a los Antibióticos y Una Salud se centra en la comprensión y el abordaje de uno de los desafíos más críticos para la salud global en la actualidad. A través de este curso, los participantes aprenderán sobre la importancia de la resistencia a los antibióticos como un problema de Una Salud, que afecta a humanos, animales y el medio ambiente de manera interconectada. Se explorarán las causas y consecuencias de la propagación de bacterias resistentes, así como las estrategias necesarias para prevenir y controlar su impacto en diferentes entornos.
El objetivo de esta encuesta es conocer la situación actual de nuestros alumni y entender mejor sus necesidades. Con esta información, podremos mejorar nuestra comunicación y esforzarnos por satisfacer sus expectativas de manera más efectiva.

This course links two priority topics: antibiotic resistance and marine conservation, under the "One Health" approach, as they are interconnected and have widespread implications for human, animal, and environmental health.
Duration: 10 weeks, starting on Oct 1, 2024.Registration is open until Sep 17, 2024.
- This course will introduce you to the connections between climate change and health. The content material provides a framework to understand the basic mechanisms of climate change and the extent of its impacts on human and animal health, identifying the connection between planetary challenges and local threats.
Duration: 10 weeks, starting on January 6th, 2025.
Registration deadline: December 20th, 2024.
- This course will provide you with a basic knowledge of the disease outbreak investigation process using the COVID-19 pandemic as an example.
Duration: 8 weeks, starting on 13th January 2024.
The Introduction to Global Health course is intended as a blended learning course, including synchronous (4 sessions) and asynchronous units. The module will last for 12 weeks, and is designed for around 90 working hours (3 ECTS), including 30 hours working with online material and meetings and around 60 hours self-study and project work. Please consider the following dates for the synchronous sessions before you register for this course.

This course is only for students of the EUGLOH Certificate of Advanced Studies in Global Health in principle. However, if places are available they will be offered to other EUGLOH students. As we have received a large number of applications for this course, to help us with our selection procedure we kindly ask you to submit a short motivation statement of around 100 words describing the expected benefits of the Interdisciplinary Global Health 2 course for your studies/career/everyday life. Please send it to this email address along with your study level (Masters, PhD, etc.), subject of study, and if you selected other for your University please specify this too.
Given the complex global challenges we currently face, science communication is becoming increasingly important. The Science Communication Workshop in the Science Communication Lab (SCL) of the Deutsches Museum provides theoretical principles of science communication and practical skills that help scientists and students translate their research topic into new communication formats and thus make it accessible to a broader public.
Participants will directly apply what they have learned in small exercises during the workshop and undergo a rapid prototyping phase in small groups at the end of the workshop.
As a possible next step, participants will have the opportunity to use the SCL as a communication forum and present their research in an experimental setting to a wider audience in the future.
